Major Festivals in Bihar

Rajgir Festival

Rajgir Mahotsav was organized for the first time in 1986. Held in the historic Ajatashatru Fort Ground, this festival has become a symbol of the amalgamation of historicity, antiquity, tradition and modernity.

Vikramshila Festival

This festival is organized under the joint aegis of tourism department and district administration Bhagalpur.

Mandar Festival

Banka district, which is connected to the border of Bhagalpur, is very famous because of the Mandar mountain. The Mandar Festival is organized near this. This is an important fair of Bihar, which is held during Makar Sankranti.

Champaran Festival

Considering the importance of Champaran, a three-day festival of Champaran begins every year. This festival is organized next to Kesaria Bachha Singh College.

Varieties festival

A two-day festival is organized every year at Wanawar, located about 25 km south-east of Jehanabad district headquarters.

Tapovan Festival

This festival is organized on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, which is for three days.

Vaishali Festival

The organization of Vaishali Mahotsav is especially focused solely on Mahavir, the originator of Jainism. Mahavir had spent 30 years of his valuable life in Vaishali.

Mithila Festival

With the aim of keeping the rich culture of Mithila and painting of Madhubani alive, every year Mithila Mahotsav is organized. Mithila Mahotsav is organized by the Department of Tourism, Art, Culture and Youth Affairs. Mithila Painting Institute has also been established in Madhubani, which is the center of attraction of the festival.
